The Story

The artwork is a reflection off the water from the canals in the so-called “Venice” of Portugal Aveiro of the Art Nouveau houses lining the much of the city’s canals. Paintings on Water Collection

The Paintings on Water series explores the natural world as a source of abstraction in art. I propose that abstract painting is not merely an act of unconscious imagination by an artist but rather the result of subconscious observations grounded in reality. These works are a visual expression of how the mind perceives and interprets the world. Using a modern tool—the digital camera—I have captured the unconscious abstractions found in nature. These images invite viewers to engage their own perceptions, contemplating what these organic forms and patterns represent.
