"Art consists in making others feel what we feel" – Fernando Pessoa, Portuguse novelist and poet

The Story

Buildings On Water 3 captures the facades of houses on Rua João Mendonça in Aveiro, Portugal. This photograph pays tribute to Claude Monet, echoing his fascination with reflections of structures built beside water. This artwork represents one of my early explorations into how water reflections mirror the visual essence of a culture. The shimmering reflection of these historic buildings delves into the unique character of Portuguese architecture, offering viewers a glimpse into the cultural identity of Aveiro. Featured in my "Water Spirits of Aveiro" exhibition, this piece illustrates my hypothesis that water reflections reveal the inherent nature of their surroundings.

About the Urban Reflections Collection

Urban Reflections captures the unexpected poetry found in the built environment — moments where glass, metal, shadow and movement distort the city into something abstract, contemplative and beautifully unfamiliar. These works transform architecture into living geometry, revealing the emotional undercurrents of modern life through colour, pattern and reflection. Each piece invites the viewer to slow down, look deeper, and discover the hidden rhythms within the structures that shape our world.
