Impressions of a Turner Landscape 7
100 × 160 cm
Edition 1/5
"I don't paint so that people will understand me, I paint to show what a particular scene looks like" JMW Turner.
The Story
I constantly challenge myself to discover new content and innovative ways of creating artworks each time I kayak. It can be frustrating at times, especially when I find myself in familiar locations. That’s why staying alert to the subtle changes that Nature offers is crucial. Some days, I catch myself being dismissive, thinking, “You’ve shown me this scene before,” as my subconscious almost scolds Nature, demanding something new. However, I’ve learned that such thoughts can cause me to miss the countless photographic opportunities present in every moment.
The creation of 'Impressions of a Turner Landscape 7' was one of those moments when my focus was sharp, and my creative practice was fully engaged, allowing me to see newness in a familiar scene—light, shape, and form—that I had photographed many times under different conditions. JMW Turner, who gave the world marine watercolor art, serves as a powerful inspiration for this series and profoundly influences my philosophical approach as an artist.
