The Story

The artwork is a photograph of the hull of a yacht and the reflection of the hull on the surface of the water. The artwork pays homage to the school of abstract expressionism known as the colourfield painting, specifically the works of one of the movement’s founders, Mark Rothko. Works by the Australian artist, Fred Williams, in his Infinite Horizons series, have also been seen as an influence on the artwork.

About the Urban Reflections Collection

Urban Reflections captures the unexpected poetry found in the built environment — moments where glass, metal, shadow and movement distort the city into something abstract, contemplative and beautifully unfamiliar. These works transform architecture into living geometry, revealing the emotional undercurrents of modern life through colour, pattern and reflection. Each piece invites the viewer to slow down, look deeper, and discover the hidden rhythms within the structures that shape our world.
