The Face of Yellow

$2,750.00

120 x 120cm

Edition 1/10

“There are painters who transform the sun to a yellow spot, but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence, transform a yellow spot into sun” Pablo Picasso

The Story

Every now and then, a photo stares back at me creating tension. I love the sheer joy it creates, yet I'm unable to give it a title because of that feeling. That is what is so wonderful about Mark Rothko's concept of a colour field. It is the emotion a colour creates in a work that causes a visceral connection.. I just love staring at this piece. It fills me with happiness and joy every time I look at it. There is a sense of slight danger with the sharp spear like motif running across the work, yet that evokes action to me, enhancing and giving movement to the joy.

Paintings on Water Collection

The Paintings on Water series explores the natural world as a source of abstraction in art. I propose that abstract painting is not merely an act of unconscious imagination by an artist but rather the result of subconscious observations grounded in reality. These works are a visual expression of how the mind perceives and interprets the world. Using a modern tool—the digital camera—I have captured the unconscious abstractions found in nature. These images invite viewers to engage their own perceptions, contemplating what these organic forms and patterns represent.
